Federalism Of  India


What is federalism ? federalism is a system in which government difference between central authority and state authority . In the india federalism there are so many tiers of government and so many levels of government which they have to specified the people towards the federalism . 

In politics of federalism there is a very complex circumstances which the people connect to federalism and connect to eachother . In politics of federalism is a political philosphy in which a group of people are bound together with a governing head of government . 

Features of  federalism :- 

  1. There are two or more levels of gvernment . 
  2. There has a two - tiers of government in which the tiers of government have jursidiction towards the people and members of the constituent assembly . 
  3. They have jursidiction in the matters of legislation , taxation and executive . 
  4. Powers and functions of each tier of government is specified and guaranteed by constitution.
  5. The supreme court has been given power to settle disputes against state government . 
The legislative powers are categorised under a union list , state list and concurrent list . 

  • Union list :- In union list , the govrnment gas the parliament exclusive power to legislate defence , armed , forces , ammunition , war , peace , citizenship , railways , shipping and airways post . 
  • State list :- In state list , the government covers and specified government . Uniformly is desirable but not essential on items in this list maintaining law and order , healthcare , transport , policies , electricity in the state etc . The parliament make laws on subject mentioned in the state list . 
State list exclusived powers to legislate with regards to items on the state list articles 249 , 252 and 253 which the legislate can over the hand of government .

  • Concurrent list  :- In concurrent list , this list was uniformly desirable but  not essential on items in this list . The list contain marriage , divorce , transfer of property and other than education .

Executive powers :- Executive powers in which the union government cannot overrule the constitutional rights powers of a state government . 


Economic Federation :- In economic federation , the government is trying to impose uniform taxation and througout india and to take overstate tax collection without regard to the impacts on individual states . 
in the economic india the supreme court upheld the constitutional rights towards the sates to impose on entry tax which is the against the principle of 
Goods and Services Tax ( GST )

GST isan indirect tax used in india o the supply of goods and services . It is a comphrensive , multistage , destination- based tax . 
Goods and Services are divides into five slabs for collection of tax - 0% , 5% , 12% , 18%  and 28% . However , petroleum products , alcoholic drinks and electricity are not taxed under GST .

The union of government introduced the freight equalization policy that damaged many indian states including Madhya pradesh (M.P ) , West Bengal , Orissa etc.
These states have lost their compeitive advantages of holding mineral resources could now operate anywhere in india .
